rather similar technological tree with limited resources and production chains, however, there are mods to expand this incredible level of freedom when it comes to building monuments (structures comprising many different components): Players have the ability to recreate many of the existing architectural marvels or create something very unique

have full support for mods (install via in-game interface), but mods even those for colour-blindness disable achievements vanilla game idolises 'organic' building, hence, players have very limited control over roads and housing placement (it is possible to force roads and houses where the player wants them to be but it can be a rather frustrating experience) There are mods that disable organic building and allow players to choose and place residential buildings very OCD-unfriendly controls for building placement: Aligning parts that do not have the snap-on option can be a very long and frustrating process (planters and decorations are the most obvious cases) because all rotation and parts movement have to be done with a mouse very simple economics, focus on building limited maps (there is a map editor, though). a somewhat unusual choice of 'villagers': Beavers instead of traditional humans 3-D grid system (still a grid but buildings are stackable) can build high and keep the settlement very compact modular building: Each building is still a fully finished model with no modification options but they can be stacked together in many different ways water management is the most challenging aspect of the game, all other systems are rather simple and very similar to all other games of this genre Timberborn (I played it a long time ago, so my impressions are based on old versions) mods exist but cannot be installed via Steam or in-game interface (perhaps this will change in the future). game mechanics are solid but still need a lot of improvements (logistics needs it the most) terrain modification options, albeit limited cannot build high, have to spread wide no creative building options (all buildings are fully finished models with no way to modify them) randomly generated maps based on several different biomes prioritises layouts and defence tactics I played all three and here are my impressions:

Sadly no, the game just feels so shallow. I fire it up now and then to see if the "incredibly exciting" recent updates such as taxes and edicts have changed anything. The free form building layout is nice but you don't directly control house placement, just other buildings. Walls are entirely decorative, it will cost you precious resources to build even a small market stall or decorative trees, but you can surround your entire village with stone walls for free! So lame, but it fitting with this game having such weak mechanics. Oh sorry, I forgot about the make believe thing where you trains soldiers and send them off map to fight in a imaginary war. There is no war/combat and never will be according to the developers.
